Every January, there is an excited Entrepreneur in Las Vegas for CES, and in 2014 that was me, representing the Entrepreneur Social Club
Every year in Las Vegas is the world’s largest tradeshow, the ultimate nerd and geek fest on the planet, the CES or Consumer Electronics Show. I stumbled upon this show years ago and have been hooked ever since!
The CES is HUGE! And of course Vegas is the perfect city to host this beast. According to Wikipedia, “International CES, more commonly known as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), is an internationally renowned electronics and technology trade show, attracting major companies and industry professionals worldwide. The annual show is held each January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Not open to the public, the Consumer Electronics Association-sponsored show typically hosts previews of products and new product announcements. CES rose to prominence after a rival show, COMDEX, was canceled.”
Since I’m a sci-fi reading, tech watching, steak eating, party mc lovin’, and I enjoy big shows, wild over the top events, meeting people from all over the globe, and life itself, this is such the week to scratch all of those itches!
The CES show itself takes AT LEAST 2 long long, my feet are killing me, days to see everything and that’s at a full sprint. There are so many new phones, devices, robots, solar panels and people from everywhere trying to catch your attention and to ultimately sell you something.
Starting with transportation: there were cars, planes, boats, submarines, gondolas and more..
Next was mobile devices, games, bluetooth everything and more:
Of course, what’s Vegas without a few pretty faces! Even if some are over 1000 miles away, flirting with me via a robotic interface:
And the evolution of our fav, the HDTVs has a few sweet new trends, the size and the clarity! Yes 3D is cool too, but these new HDTVs are MASSIVE and they are 4k. What’s 4k? Well current HDTV are typically 1080p and these new 4Ks are, well again let’s let Wikipedia do the explaining..
“4K resolution is a generic term for display devices or content having horizontal resolution on the order of 4,000 pixels.[1] Several 4K resolutions exist in the fields of digital television and digital cinematography. In the movie projection industry, Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) is the dominant 4K standard. The television industry has adopted ultra high definition television (UHDTV) as its 4K standard. However, due to lack of available content, 4K television has yet to achieve mass market appeal. Using horizontal resolution to characterize the technology marks a switch from the previous generation, high definition television, which categorized media according to vertical resolution (1080i, 720p, 480p, etc.).”
TVs are everywhere, and even when I went to take a bathroom break, yes they were there pitching me something as I washed my hands! Only in Vegas!! Now on to Printed Food. Huh?? yup, keep reading….
The ‘future is now tech’ is next here, with 3d Printers that print everything including FOOD, yes food. And robots galore! This crazy colored shape below, made by CHEF JET is made of sugar. By the time I got through the endless line, all the samples had been eaten. Star Trek cuisine is much closer than we realize. Mmmm!
So what’s next? Oh well it IS Las Vegas, so there’s the party and shows and some things that just gotta STAY in Vegas, right? 😉
