Rio Street Art Tour with Nina, one of our newer Entrepreneur Social Club members!

I did something unusual today. On a sunny August 14, 2017, here in Rio de Janeiro. During my world travels and adventuring, the exploring of street art murals and graffiti, down the alleys and around the city streets, I typically do this alone. Solo. Like I did in Athens and in Medellin. So I can walk and explore at my own pace. Rare quiet time. Time to think, to contemplate and enjoy. Well, I decided to take the smart advice of my new pal Tom Le Mesurier, the founder of Eat Rio, whose tour I enjoyed just a few days ago. Yummy! So when in Rio de Janeiro, spend the afternoon with Tom. He said that if I enjoyed street art, which I MOST certainly do, then I MUST take a tour with Nina. Thanks Tom for your excellent advice!!

Athen’s Surprising Street Art Scene.

So I arrived late into Athens Saturday night, about 11pm, and “Tubered” to my AirBnB apartment. “Tubered” meaning using the Uber app but riding in a taxi. See many cities around the globe caved into the taxi union’s pressure and don’t allow Ubering they only allow “Tubering” with taxi (new word =Tubering). It DOES make the shitty taxi service better, less chance to sit around waiting, getting “lost” and being ripped off. (Props to all our fellow Entrepreneurs for making traveling in the 21st Century SO MUCH EASIER!! AirBnB, Uber, Expedia, Google Flights, etc. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!) Anyhoo, so after skipping dinner, and finally getting an excellent night’s sleep (check out my previous blog’s as to why), I awoke to a spectacularly gorgeous 1st day in Athens. Read on… Spending a day experiencing the Belarus Consul (and their delightful 1950’s style of customer service, brought to you by Stalin.Inc) to a modern, friendly, tech savvy Latvian Entrepreneur named Dovainis Sinkevičius, owner of a new, really cute cafe, Localt. End to end of the spectrum here ladies and gents. See while traveling through the delightful Latvia and Lithuania, I decided to pop over to neighbor Belarus, into the capital Minsk….but not before a few days here in lovely Vilnius!

Holy shit watch your step in Buenos Aires

After the 6 1/2 hour flight from Bogota to Buenos Aires, arriving at a lovely 3:30 am in the morning, after a lot of choppy weather, I was ready to hit a soft mattress and get some sleepy. However, I had yet to find that mattress. I tried AirBnB to get a crash pad for a 5 am early check-in but no bueno. So I went to the hotel where we are scheduled to stay the NEXT few nights with my amigos. They’d have a room for uno, correct?

Vandalism and street art the battle for respect in Bogota

After spending five lovely days in Medellin, truly surprised at the excellent quality and quantity of their street art, graffiti, murals and yes outright vandalism, I wondered what Bogota had in store for me. Well, compared to Medellin, the amount of pure trashy vandalism here in Bogota was so disappointing. It seems that every idiot with a pair of arms and access to spray paint decided to “tag” and RUIN so much of it’s charm and beauty. Yes there is also incredible world-class street art here, and that’s the focus of my story today.

Powerful Graffiti, Amazing Murals and Sexy Street Art showcases today’s Medellin

Today, Saturday November 15, 2014 brings to me three words of beauty. No Mas Lluvia!. No more rain. I was up early with every intention to work for a few hours, exercise a bit then take a taxi down to the Museo de Arte Moderno, and spend a few hours enjoying Modern Art here in Medellin. I double checked with the gods of Google, and yup, the gallery is open today until 5:00 pm. Muy Bien. So I NYC whistle down a passing taxi, yes I’ve got a world-class whistle, and we are off to the Museo, about a brisk 20 minute ride.
